What began as a magical idea has now become a heartfelt project with a profound impact. Our goal is to help families in difficult life situations – whether through financial support for medical or medication costs or through personal support in everyday life.
Our volunteers take on the roles of superheroes, princesses, and other children's favorite characters. During their visits in the hospital or at home, they give the children moments of joy, distraction, and laughter – and also relieve the burden on parents.
What began with a meeting at a convention has now become an organization with a huge impact. Inspired by a similar project in Germany, Michael Bäcker and his partner founded Cosplay Entertainment Austria & World Wide in 2019. A lot has happened since then: Our team has grown, our missions have increased—and we've been able to make countless children's eyes light up.
2018
An idea is born
At a convention in Germany, Michael Bäcker and his partner encountered an organization that worked as superheroes for sick children. The idea of creating something similar in Austria was born.
2019
Founding
Michael Bäcker and his partner founded the association in Wiener Neustadt with the aim of bringing joy, hope, and support to seriously ill children and their families – through cosplay, visits, and practical help.
2020–2022
Growth
The association continues to grow. More and more volunteers join, and the first regular missions in hospitals and at home begin. Support for families in Hungary also begins with donations in kind and food packages.
2024
Great Heroes
Over 115 members across Austria (and beyond) are dedicated to their work. Around 26 cosplayers regularly dress up as superheroes, princesses, and favorite characters to give children unforgettable moments.
2025
100% project completion
All planned projects and heartfelt wishes for the year can be fully implemented – a significant milestone for the association.
